MN-100 VPN?!?!?

I have an MN-100 Wired router, and am running a VPN
server from Windows XP (it is the Windows XP one, waiting
for incomming connections, not a 3rd party) and trying to
have my friend connect to me. I am running a Westell Dual
Connect 2200 DSL modem for internet. Anyway, my problem
could be numerous things, but things I'd like to know are:
what ports (and if they are TCP/UDP) need to be open to
make the server available to someone else through the
internet. Also, on the client side (the person trying to
connect to me) what ports would need to be opened? Its
getting aggravating b/c every time my friend tries to
connect to me, he gets the error 800 saying he couldn't
connect ... suggestions??? ALL help is appreciated!!!!
