Modem Audio Device - windows xp

Posted: 01-16-2004, 01:08 PM
I have a device that wants to install in the control
pannelunknown device called modem audio device. I can't
find the drivers for it nor can windows xp. What is it and
how do I fix it. I think it's keeping my modem from
working. I have just installed the Gforce5600 vidio card
and there are no conflicts that I can see.

If you didn't have this issue before the Gforce install then it is
conflicting.

That said, Modems often work with components of the Soundcard. Are you sure
you've installed the entire compliment from your soundcard? Try this, when
you search for the driver for this unknown audio device, place the disk for
your soundcard in the drive and point the driver wizard to that disk. You
might have to navigate to various folders on the disk before you find the
one that might have the necessary files. This may not be this issue but
I've seen this quite often and have had the issue myself and resolved it
with the above method.
