Monitor Calibration Issues

Posted: 01-23-2008, 12:42 AM
I am trying to calibrate my home laptop LCD monitor using an X-Rite Eye One
Display 2 unit for digital photography purposes. After calibration, the
X-Rite unit creates a custom monitor profile and sets it as default. But the
laptop reverts to the original monitor settings once the computer is
rebooted. I can't get the corrected monitor profile to display even though
the display settings show that profile as the default. I've tried "adding"
the profile in advanced display settings and re-setting as the default but
that has no effect. Only a new calibration will change the monitor to the
desired settings and that only lasts until the next power down. During the
boot process, I can see the monitor colors change three times
(original>calibrated>back to original).

My laptop is an HP Pavillion DV2000 using Vista Home Premium and with Intel
GMA X3100 display adapter. BTW, my XP desktop was calibrated successfully
without problems.

I am also having this problem. I have calibrated my monitor, and even
though it is set as default vista will not use it, Vista loads it and then
changes it once its loaded. Does anyone know of a solution?
Thanks

Becky,

I was experiencing two problems. (1) Vista overriding the calibrated
monitor profile during bootup and (2) Vista reverting back to the old profile
after the screensaver kicks in or the monitor goes in sleep or hibernation
mode.

I have found a work around for the first problem. I installed a program
called Startup Delayer which allows you to put a time delay on your startup
programs. I put a delay of 60 seconds on the Calibration Loader and this
allows the calibrated profile to survive past the boot process. This lasts
until Vista kicks out of active mode for whatever reason (screensaver, sleep,
hibernation, etc.). Once that happens, I have to reboot in order to have a
calibrated screen. I cannot manually load the calibrated profile outside of
the boot process.

I know it is not a total solution but I hope it helps you somehow.

Hello...

I had problems with my hardware calibreted display in what concerns t
automatic ICC profile loading by windows Vista32 too.

I solved this by using the displayprofile.exe free software from X-Rit
because it can force the ICC profile data to be charged in the memory o
video card.

'DisplayProfile Freeware for Windows NA
(http://www.xrite.com/product_overvie...SoftwareID=539)

The profile doesn't charge automaticaly through displayprofile.ex
because it is a manual process but, at least, every time windows vist
resets ICC profile after its boot or by any other action you describe
above you can call displayprofile.exe by clicking only its icon an
select the desired profile name.

You will not need to recalibrate the monitor every time windows vista
and all others) shows all its enormous problems list.

I don't know if web addresses can be posted here but in case they ar
not you can search in google for "x-rite" and in x-rite search fo
"displayprofile" ( not "displayprofile.exe)
