monty python's meaning of life and windows xp

I have the meaning of life game, which i used to run
successfully on w 98. Trying to install it on my W XP
system, I get an error message: "this program requires
Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 3 or higher."

Is windows XP not backward compatible? Is there a patch
I can download to run this program? I am not really
interested in buying Windows NT and running a dual boot
machine. Appreciate any help.

There may be recent patches for the game itself, Bob, but you can use
Compatibility Mode (see Help and Support) to run older games. There's also
good information here:

changing compatibility by using explorer when looking at
the programs exe files did the trick. thanks for your
help.
