Motherboard question?

Posted: 03-07-2004, 11:16 PM
I am thinking about buiding my own PC, and have had trouble finding out if motherboards come with the CPU alreay installed. Does anyone know if they do, or if the CPU has to be also purchased as an addition?

The CPUs were bought separately for the 3 or 4 PCs I've built from
motherboard on up.

Most motherboards I'm aware of can take several CPUs.

Greetings --

They'll come either way, depending upon who you buy it from and
what you specify, and pay for, when you order it. If all you're
thinking of doing is ordering a motherboard directly from a
manufacturer, the board is all you'll get.

Thanks for the fast reply Mr. Chambers.

Anyway, it seems a bit pricy as I have looked at them at various websites. I want the best, and the CPUs cost around $500, and the board $150-200. I can do this, but I was under the impression that that the CPUs came included. Oh well :-) !

Let me ask you this: I want to get RAM from Kingston (or Crucial) at DDR PC4300 SDRAM, which clocks at 533mhz, but I cannot find a MOBO that supports that speed. Is there such a MOBO yet?

Motherboards are sold seperate from the CPU. Of cource you could have a retailer install the CPU for you when you purchase it. They are pretty simple to install though...
