Mouse does not work in MS Word (Vista)

I have tried the solutions in this newsgroup which have not worked. I
have seen in other postings that disabling certain add-ins might resolve
the issue. But my mouse does not work in the "Word Options" window, i.e.
only the "Popular" tab works. Please help.
