This can be caused by 2 reasons
Hardware - It may just be happening not out of inuse but just simply by a
faulty cable. Windows will not register that a mouse or compatible pointing
device is present and simply remove the cursor.
Software - If you have power-saving features in use on your computer then
windows may be closing off the mouse to save power. Upon trying to
initialise the mouse to use it again, the drivers may be having problems
starting back up. This is common after entering standby mode. You can use
the microsoft certified drivers that come with windows or try reinstalling
them.
