Movie Maker Problem Report-Crash

Posted: 02-05-2007, 04:08 AM
I have SP2 installed and am running Windows XP Professional. Upon opening
Windows Movie Maker, I get an error window that says, "Windows Movie Maker
has encountered a problem and needs to close. We're sorry for the
inconvenience" I can choose to "DEBUG" by clicking that button which I have
done and then "SEND ERROR REPORT" or "DON'T SEND" I have sent the error
report at least a dozen times with no reply.

Details of problem is shown as:
Error Signature
AppName: moviemk.exe
ModVer: 6.5.2600.2180
AppVer: 2.0.3312.0
ModName: qedit.dll
OFFSET: 0001b2af

To try to resolve this problem, I have gone up Windows Update to ensure I
have everything updated and it shows as everything being up to date.

Do I need to download a fresh Windows Movie Maker and from where if I do?
I need HELP and am open to any suggestions?

Thanks
Shar54

Maybe the following message will offer
some ideas:

Movie Maker always has to close

Some users have reported problems
after installing IE7. If this applies to your
situation ...uninstalling IE7 may be worth
a try.

Hi John.

Thanks for getting replying to my question so quickly!

Changing the other Application Directories temporarily to for example,
TEMPInterVideo did not resolve the problem.

IE 7 is installed and I'm going to try uninstalling it now. Will be back to
report.

Hi John:

I reported that I had tried the temporarily renaming the directories of
related programs and it didn't work.

Another Alternative was to uninstall IE7. That did the trick! Something in
IE7 just didn't like Movie Maker!

THANK YOU!

I also am having WMM crash. Mine happens when dropping a file into the
timeline. The announcement comes saying, "WMM has encountered a problem and
needs to close. We are sorry the inconvenience". I send the error report but
get no response. I'm running XP MCE 05, SP2, and IE 6.
