Movie maker records audio only from handycam via usb

When I click Record, it inly recognizes an audio device.
There is no video device option to click. Camera is a
sony Handycam. It did record video via Sony's own
software to my Windows 2000 machine. Why won't Movie
Maker work the same way?

What model Sony is it? If it's a digital one, are you connecting via iLink
or firewire?

At this point I am using the USB cable. I know firewrie
is an option, but the USB worked on Windows 2000 with
Sony's software

When it's a digital camcorder, Movie Maker works with firewire.... the
problems you see are typical when you try to capture via USB.
