Movie Maker shuts down on start up

Posted: 04-02-2007, 04:16 AM
Every time I launch Movie Maker, an error message pops up and shuts down. I
have been to the papajohn site, but I not comfortable monkeying around with
the files. I have some decent computer knowledge...enough to really screw
things up! If it can not be fixed, I will just buy some other software since
Movie Maker just auto destructs. ....Nice job Microsoft!

I am having the exact same problem. Anyone have a solution? There is no way
to independently download MovieMaker (thank you very much Microsoft) and I
already have SP2.

Some users have reported problems
after installing IE7. If this applies to your
situation ...uninstalling IE7 may be worth
a try.

These others launch in preference to Movie Maker; in fact, even when opening Movie Maker before connecting to to camcorder; Movie Maker is not selected, even when I try to use it; the program won't launch. How can I make it (WMM) be selected instead of the others? Must I uninstall the rest?

When you have a question please
begin a new thread.

Are you using IE7? Are you using
the ffdshow codec?

Will Movie Maker launch if you do
the following: Go to..Start / Run...
type... "moviemk.exe" press / enter.

With all the apps you have installed...
it would be hard to sort out. Maybe
uninstalling unneeded programs would
be a good start.
