Movie Maker won't save to DVD

Posted: 05-10-2007, 10:33 PM
I have made a slide show/movie, but I can't get it to save to DVD. It goes
all through the saving stage, then goes to converting files, then stops.
Says "Windows Movie Maker can't save to DVD. There was an error." But no
error was stated. The slides are .jpg and the movie part is from High 8
digital camcorder. The whole thing is about 25 minutes long.

I have spent many days making this, and now I can't save it to DVD. It is
so frustrating. Any suggestions?

Only the Media Center version of WinXP
has an option to burn a DVD. And even
then...the following info may be useful to you:

There is an option to burn to DVD in movie maker. It is under "Finish
Movie", but it doesn't work for me. I will try the suggestions in the links
you sent. I'll let you know how it turns out.

I struggled the first time I wanted to do this. How I got around it was by
saving my movie (created in WMM) to DV file format. This is basically the
same quality as that on the digital camcorder. Next, if you bought your
computer with the DVD writer already installed, then you will probably have
an OEM burning software such as NERO. So, I opened my movie (saved as DV
file) in NERO and created my slideshow in there, then saved to DVD.

As a bonus, and to save space on my hard-drive, I rewrote the edited movie
back to my camcorder to save it on tape. This is because the tape is
capable of storing data for longer than on DVD's. Just don't forget to
delete the DV file on your computer's hard-drive or you'll soon run out of
disc space!

Hope this helps.

Suzanne, did you find a solution to this problem? I'm experiencing th
exact same problem and I'm beginning to despise WMM
