MovieMaker/DVD Maker in Vista Business edition?

Posted: 11-02-2006, 05:21 PM
Hi all.

Where can I find *CURRENT* information about the features included in the
various formats of Vista? Our schools are looking at Vista for next year.
They want to be able to use at least some PCs for video editing, and so want
to have the option to use Windows Movie Maker and DVD Maker. I know they're
nothing fancy but they'll do the job and are very easy to use (unlike, say,
Pinnacle's crash-prone Studio 10)

The issue is that because all of our schools are on various domains, the PCs
all use Windows XP Professional. The ideal upgrade would be to have PCs
running Windows Vista Business edition, as that seems to be the comparable
product to XP Pro.

However, I've read that Microsoft yanked WMM and DVD-M from the Business
editions...I also read later that those features might possibly be
reintroduced in the Business version. All I've found on the web so far is
info that is several months old, so I don't know if it's accurate.

Does anyone know? The schools will not fork out the $$$ Microsoft wants for
Vista Ultimate, and will probably end up buying Macs for video editing
instead.

Thanks,
Sir_Timbit

Take a look at Adobe Premier Elements. About $60/seat with rebate, and IME
very capable and robust.
