MS automatic updates

The first thing I would try is to download the service
pack from www.microsoft.com/download
Then I would install it locally to see if it will run.

Also, another thing to try is:
If the auto updater has downloaded the updates already,
they should be located at:
c:\Program Files\Windows Update\wuaudnld.tmp\cabs
I would try to browse into one of the folders where the
update is downloaded here, and install it using the .exe
file.

But that's just me : )
