MSN Messenger not working

For some reason, I can'tseem to get Windows Messenger 8, or MSN 7.5, to work
on my PC. I can do seemingly everything else - browse the web, POP/SMTP mail,
FTP, Bittorrent, but I just can't get MSN to work!

Any suggestions/ideas?

This has happened in builds 5308, 5342, 5365 and 5381.

This has happened in builds 5308, 5342, 5365 and 5381.

Check the Windows Firewall in Control Panel to see if its blocked. Click the
Exceptions (tab) and click Add Program if its not already listed.
(becareful when you click send).

I have Windows Live Messenger Build 8.0.689.00 Beta working on Windows Code
Name Long Horn Server Beta 2, just FYI.

Correction: I am now Experiencing some Data Execution Prevention (DEP)
Crashes in the Windows Live Messenger Beta when it is Running on Windows
Server Code Name Long Horn Beta 2, just FYI.
