I went to mtv.com to watch a video. When it was playing
I changed to full screen (media player) and then back to
a small screen and then my computer restarted. I tried
to run Norton and it would scan half way and then it
would error. From what I read on the norton website,
it's just an error that I would need to re-install or
delete my temporary files. I did all of that and my
computer is now possessed and turns on and off through
the night. Any ideas? What can I do? What's wrong with
my comp? Thanks to everyone!

MTV.com website bombarded you with a bunch of spyware/malware. You'll need to get rid of that for WMP to function normally and stop the on and off fiasco:
