Multi boot setup with XP and Vista

I have my OS of XP install on my first HDD and Vista setup on a 2nd HDD. I
had a error msg when I tried to install Vista on the 2nd to create a multi
boot. I had to pull cables off the 1st HDD and set the other HDD as a stand
alone to install. How can I change the boot.ini file on the original HDD (1st
HDD) to do Multi boot?
