Multi-channel Sound Manager

This is the second time I've lost the "Multi-channel
Sound Manager" program that came installed with the
computer. Is anyone else having the same problem? And how
did you fix it? Thanks

Yes, I experienced the same phenom. I don't use it very much, but it is irritatiing, and because XP doesn't come on a CD with my computer, I don't have a clue how to reload it
I also wonder "what else has gone West?
Help!

I also lost the multi-channel sound manager, but I got it back. I simply re-installed all of the drivers for the sound components. I did this by looking in the contorl panel, then clicking on Performance and maintanence, then clicking on the system icon, then under the Hardware tab, click on Device Manager. Then click on the + sign next to Sound, Video and Game controllers. From there, simply re-install the drivers for each item, and you should get it back.

Hi, Yes, This is a function of the sound driver itself. Windows doesn't
offer it by itself.

Does anyone know how to find, and or, reinstall the "multi-channel sound manage", somehow mine got zapped and I was rather fond of it. I do not know if it is specific to my computer, or if it is common with windows xp.
This computer is a" hp pavilion a320n". This is my backup computer until I can get back to windows second edition. Need a new mobo. I hope I don't get stuck permanently with this system. Windows xp is very nice, but I have lost so much program and hardware computability it is unbelievable. Does Xp wanta pay for that? Lots of nasty thoughts

Check out this lot :

Did you check for XP specific drivers on the various manufacturers' websites
? If there are none, try using W2000 drivers, they may well help you out.
Try reading this article :

Visit the software producers websites, sometimes they put out XP "fixes".

Cheers,
Jerry

problem is fixed. hp had a critical audio update and I used that, my problem vanished. I still do not know what caused the problem, I was down-loading many fixes and updates for XP from microsoft, I was very careful not to disturb the sound manager, but somehow it got zapped. HP loaded a bunch of silly programs in this machine and I was busy zapping them.
The good news is that the audio update gave me even more stuff to play with although it is not a sound blaster quality it is now very close.
Thank you for your help.
