Multi OS Install Disk

Default Multi OS Install Disk

I work for a university IT office and the computers that we see usually have
Windows XP Pro or Home.

I was wondering if it is legal to combine both version of XP onto one disc.
I know it is possible to combine then, as seen on the 8in1 disc, its possible
to fit up to 8 versions of windows onto one disc. We always use the user's
OEM license (sticker on computer) anyways, but it becomes a hassle when we
suddenly run out of XP Home or XP Pro discs.

Thank you.

I just spent all weekend doing this, trying to slipstream SP2 unto a MSDN XP
and re-create the DVD.
If you do not need it to be bootable, then it is just a simple creating a
CD/DVD with a front-end menu interface to chose the correct SETUP.EXE file.

If you want a bootable version, you will need to create a bootable .img file
to filter requests at boot-up.

Let me rephrase my question.
Lets say I have an 8-in1 disc that contains every windows xp version (home
oem, retail, corp, vol and pro oem, retail, corp, and vol).
Is this disc illegal to use something like this even if every computer that
we work on has a windows license sticker and if the only way we install
windows is if that key works and activates properly (every machine has its
own unique key provided by mfg).

Personally I dont see any difference between having 8 windows discs or 8
windows OSs on one disc. Either way we use the student's license.

I need to know microsoft's official stance on this so that I can take it to
my superiors.

Thank you guys

Then you would have to email Microsoft..

Although how you install is not anyone's concern I know of as long as you
have legal licensing and your method of install works. I still have some of
those many-in-one CD/DVDs --> but most of my installs are over networks
now.. Easier.
