Multilanguage Packs

Posted: 08-08-2007, 04:31 PM
I'm trying to get multiple languages running on an XPe image. It's not
working properly. When I change the language in Control Panel-Regional and
Language Options, it lets me change to other languages and prompts for
reboot. However it always comes back up in English. When I check the
Regional and Language Options, it lists the foreign language but the UI is
still actually English.

To "enable" MUI, I've installed the MUI packs from download onto the
computer with Embedded Studio. Then I followed the instructions at
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms932867.aspx. However, I don't
find the component called "English MUI registry update". Perhaps this is
why it's not working?

1) Anyone have any tips to get my MUI working?
2) Anyone know where I can get the component "English MUI registry update"?

John

Whoops, I was changing the Regional Option and not the Language. I still
have a problem - when I add French with French keyboard layout, it gives me
the error:

Windows could not properly load the French (France) keyboard layout

I also still need the component "English MUI registry update". Any ideas?

John

Dear John Mueske,

There are some hints for you to use MUI.
1. Install MUI Support Packs
Setup MUI SP1 first and then MUI SP2

2. MUI Settings
In "French Language Support -> Settings"
- Click "Select All" button in "Fonts", "Code pages conversion
tables" and "Keyboard layouts"
- Enable "Include multilanguage user interface resources."

This action includes all language resource of selected language.

Try this~~

Hi Bing Chen,

I'm not sure if MUI support packs are installed properly. How can I tell?

I followed your step 2 perfectly. I still get the error "Windows could not
properly load the French (France) keyboard layout".

Regards,
John

I installed the MUI tier 1-3 packs that came with the FP2007 download, is
this what you mean?

Dear John,

I am not sure of FP2007 download.

Please try to find SP2 setup disks, you are able to find these MUI setup
files in CD.

You should install "langfr.exe" first and then "langfrasp2".
