Music and ANY Sound

I have tried installing Windows XP Pro 2003 and have had
to uninstall it because I cannot get ANY sound at all from
my PC after installation. At first I didn't notice,
because I was not able to get online with AOL DSL, but got
that fixed, then noticed... NO SOUND! I was so pre-
occupied with the internet connection I didn't notice. I
had someone from Gateway & AOL try to solve this, but they
could not. The last advice was to hook my speakers up to
someone elses PC to see if they did not (all at the same
time, right when I install Win XP) go out. I chose to
uninstall and everything worked fine, as before. I tried
install, uninstall, install, uninstall 4 or 5 times, but
never could get sound.
Any help would be greatly appreciated because I do like
Win XP and would like to use it in the future.
Thanks!

>All you had to do is to go to the soundcard
manufacturer's website and download the drivers for WinXP
Pro.

>I tried that, and I don't know if I did not get the
correct soundcard driver or what, but could not get it to
work. I am not the most PC literate there is, so it is
possible that I made the wrong choice. My soundcard is a
Creative Soundblaster Audio PCI 128D (WDM) (or 64?). If
you really, really think this will work, I'll try again,
but it show is a pain.... to have to install and uninstall
Win XP Pro, it's a HUGE file to install and takes about 45
minnutes to an hour or so to do. Well, thanks, I'll go on
the hunt again at Creative's web site and hope for the
best!

Did you ever get this problem fixed? I am having the same
problem - with the same soundcard. The only difference is
that I have installed XP home version, not Pro. I'm
starting to be afraid that the card is simply not
compatible...
