Music sounds low when played on the net

When I try to listen to music on the net it sounds very
low. I checked my speakers and volume settings and
everything seems to be correct. When I play music on
Windows Media Player the volume is just fine. Its only
when I try to listen on the net when the problem occurs.
The IM sounds on AOL, AIM, and YAHOO are also low. Can
someone please help? =*(
