music stuttering WMP 10

I have a problem that's about to make me give up WMP. If I set the player to
random and let it play for more than an hour the music starts skipping
randomly (but within a tolerable amount), then after maybe another hour the
music starts stuttering severely. If I stop the player and then press play
again (without restarting) the problem goes away... but it's really fricking
annoying! PLEASE HELP! or I'll have to use Real player instead
