MVP: Notification icons and general icons from theme

Posted: 10-04-2003, 11:14 AM
Hi there, I currently have two problems...

1. sometimes my custom notification icon in the
systray disappear, and sometimes only one or two
disappear, which is quite irratating, because I use
most
of my icons over there.

2. my icons that are from my theme(ForeverBlue),
keep on going to their default icons... The icons that
I
am referring to are - My Computer icon, My Recycle Bin
icon, My Network Places icon, My Documents icon... etc,
I
have tried everything that I could think of - tried re-
installing theme, changing the icons manually(Display
properties etc), but to no avail...

Please any help will be much appreciated
Thanx in Advance
RedDevil

Edit
----

Hi there, the 1st problem seems to be fixed, that is the
notification problem that I had, which upon reading the
articles about the upnp service on Kellys pages seemed to
do the fix

The 2nd problem still exists, which is the "general"
icons going to their default icon values... I have tried
everything, from re-installing the theme, saving, tried
to see what values in the registry are going back to
their default values, reading the articles... , but I
could not find the fix...

I have installed Windows XP Pro with the SP1...

Please any help would be much appreciated
Thanx in Advance
RedDevil

P.S. the articles read and applied are:

- "Troubleshooting the Notification Area" at
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_n.htm#na

- "Troubleshooting Themes" at
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_t.htm#themes

Have you tried Kelly's fix #2, the one that changes the amount of folders
windows remembers to 8000? That fix might help.
