My Computer icon deleted. How to get it back on my desktop ?

Posted: 12-30-2008, 05:17 PM
I was just fooling around and deleted the My Computer icon. The only one
there is now is the newer start menu view which I don`t like. I use Classic
view. I`m surprised Windows let me delete it. Win XP Home SP3. Any ideas ?
It`s been a few weeks so I don`t want to get it back by doing a restore.

First this is not the best group for this question as it's not related to
hardware, xp.general would be more appropriate.
Go to control panel > display, desktop tab, advanced button, put a checkmark
for my computer.

You were right. What a great answer ! I`m sorry I forgot to leave the
hardware area before I asked the question.

David

Barnaby got his answer in pretty good time through your good offices so
it worked well for him. The question was Off topic for the newsgroup.
Don't you think we can be over zealous at times policing this point.
Many posts are now coming from sources where the traditional rules are
not properly explained. This question originated from the Microsoft
Community newsgroups, where the Help is better than some e.g Techarena.

No I don't, being overzealous would be telling him he's off topic and not
answering his question, advising him he's off topic but answering anyway is
informing him for future reference.
