My Music folder is GONE

Posted: 11-17-2005, 04:53 AM
I moved the My Music folder to a second hard drive that had more space.

This hard drive crashed so I had to remove it. Now the My Music folder is
gone and is causing errors in programs such as iTunes which needs to access
it.

I've tried using TweakUI but My Music doesn't appear on the special folders
list.

Create a new folder under My Documents called My Music
Using Windows Explorer>File>New>Folder>type My Music>Enter

You think I haven't tried that? "My Music" is a special folder and it's
location had been moved out of "My Documents" to a drive which cannot be
written to (because it doesn't exist). Creating a regular folder does nothing.

Create your new folder wherever you want it.

Open regedit and navigate to:

"HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Ex plorer\User Shell Folders"

Double-click the "My Music" entry in the right-hand pane.

Enter the path for your new folder.

To restore the custom icon,

Start -> Run -> rundll32 mydocs.dll,PerUserInit

Good Luck,
Keith

You do not want to create a My Music folder to the "non-existent"
harddrive, but to your logical drive which should be "C" drive. Which
will replace the missing My Music folder.

I moved my music folder and now it's not showing in my start menu. How can I
get it to show on the list? I've check the properties box telling it to
show, but it still won't show.
Thanks

You could right click the folder, in it's current location, and select "pin
to menu". That should make it available to you.

right clicking a folder does not offer the pin option
