My PC cannot detect devices I put into my USB ports

them into the USB ports, I realised something was wrong. I took the MP3 to
another computer, plugged it in, it worked instantly. I tried then again to
find the device on my PC, it did not detect it at all, even after searching
for it. Although the computer does not detect it, the device seemingly
detects the computer, it begins to charge after plugging it in.
I wondered if anyone had a solution, as it is quite annoying that I have to
travel to someone else's house, just to add more music, thanks.
