My wife can't run Safari

Posted: 11-12-2003, 11:32 PM
She gets a panel that it unexpectedly quit. I can run it but I am an
administrator. I think it may be a permission problem. It is owned by
system and th3e admin group, which have read & write permissions.
Others are read only, but that doesn't seem to be uncommon. What else
should I check?

Every user has their own preferences, bookmarks, and history files, one
of which may have become corrupt. Try renaming your wifes user >

com.apple.Safari.plist.old and run Safari. If that fixes the problem,
you can move her old bookmarks file back and see if that was the
problem.

Have you done your backup today?

Thanks. I'll check that out.

It turns out the bookmark file was corrupt. Recreating these
directories solved the problem.

How did you recreate your bookmark file? Did you have an uncorrupted
backup?

No. I recreated it from scratch. Because she couldn't run Safari, she
hadn't bookmarked anything, so re-creating it was not a problem.
