Network Disk and "The network BIOS session limit was exceeded"

I have a problem with a Lacie Network Disk (NAS) which turns unaccessible
from my Vista Ultimate PC after some time with the error message

"The network BIOS session limit was exceeded"

The Lacie support replies (see below) that this issue lies with Vista. My
NAS has a 25 user limit and Lacie support thinks it is related to that Vista
doesn't disconnect after each access. How can I solve this problem?

Hi, I have a problem with my Lacie Network Ethernet disk which our company
bought some time ago before I was employed. Therefore I cannot find a serial
number which is required to send the tech support question from your web
page. I hope you can help me solve the problem: I’m running Windows Vista
Ultimate. When trying to connect to the network disk by running start >
"\\nas" where nas is the name of my Lacie Ethernet network hard drive, I
succeed for the first few times but after a while I start getting the error
message "\\nas The network BIOS session limit was exceeded". I don't get this
error message when I access it from Win XP Pro SP2 from the very same
computer. What is the problem? Regards, Joachim

Joachim,
That error may not be sent from the drive, but an error that Vista
determines on its own. After you receive that error are you still able to
connect from an XP computer?

The unit has a 25 user limit to it, so it might be possible that Vista is
not disconnecting the previous users and after a while its limit is reached.
But in order to test that, please do as above and see if a known good
computer can connect after the error has been received.

Thank you Michael,
When I have started receiving the error on my Vista computer it still works
just fine to connect using another XP computer.

Then the problem is with Vista. I suggest contacting microsoft to learn more
about possible limitations with the Firewall or networking. Try turning the
firewall off when you connect to the drive to determine if that may be
causing the issue.
