| Make sure the vista pc has the same workgroup name as the XP machines. Then also try turning "Network Discovery on" from kym "blistaonmyvista" <blistaonmyvista@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:17DB0532-BA22-4DCD-9C62-87C2FF7C9444@microsoft.com... Quote:

| 1. Try to install LLDT on XP. 2. Make sure NetBIOS over TCP/IP is enabled. 3. Make sure no firewall or security software blocks the sharing. If above don't fix the problem, use net view \\xpipaddress to find the system error. -- Bob Lin, MS-MVP, MCSE & CNE Networking, Internet, Routing, VPN Troubleshooting on http://www.ChicagoTech.net How to Setup Windows, Network, VPN & Remote Access on http://www.HowToNetworking.com "blistaonmyvista" <blistaonmyvista@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:8ADCA244-A332-49AC-8A4F-AA77567946E5@microsoft.com... Read this article, and linked articles, and follow instructions precisely (Download browstat, and note how to run the Vista command window as admin!): <http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/05/troubleshooting-network-neighborhood.html#AskingForHelp> http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/2005/0...#AskingForHelp -- Cheers, Chuck, MS-MVP 2005-2007 [Windows - Networking] http://nitecruzr.blogspot.com/ Paranoia is not a problem, when it's a normal response from experience. | AFAIK Vista does not let you share Drives. Have a read below. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l.../bb727037.aspx Have a read of the above link re Vista File and Printer Sharing. Permissions/Share info is there as well. -- Mick Murphy - Qld - Australia "Aspire 5610z" wrote: Quote:

| It is not recommended that the system drive (usually C) is shared but if you have, say, a D partition with music, videos, etc. that you want to share, simply right-click Computer > Manage > Storage > Disk Management then right-click the drive graphic > Properties > Security Tab > Edit > Add then type ‘Everyone’ (not the quotes) > OK and below it select your preferences, e.g. Read or Full Control. Now Apply, OK, etc. to finish. "Mick Murphy" wrote: Quote:
