Network Icon shows no connection, but there is one!

Posted: 10-05-2007, 08:53 PM
Ok, I'm running Vista Home Premium on a Dell E510 desktop with a DSL line.
Router is a Linksys BEFSR41 and the computer is connected via Ethernet. Just
recently, the network icon in the notification area shows an "x" saying I am
not connected to a network yet I am still able to go online. When I try to
find my network, it is not there and in the Network and Sharing Center, it
says "access denied" where the map usually is. I tried doing the diagnose and
repair feature but to no avail.
I did a System Restore yesterday that seemed to fix the problem yet when I
turned my computer back on today, it shows the same thing as two days ago, a
red "x". My question is how can I get the network to show again?

Thanks for your help.
