Networking of 2 computers

Posted: 09-28-2003, 12:25 AM
I want to configure a system such that my notebook
computer can share the files and devices of a second
computer eg. floppy drive, printer. I've tried the
Network Wizard after which the Wizard advises to go
to "My network places" and press "view workgroup
computers" icon to see the other computer in the
workgroup but I always get a negative reply. ie the
network is still nonfunctional and nonoperational.
How do I go about this?
Would appreciate very much input on this matter.

When you ran the network wizard, did it let you create a floppy disk to run
on the other computer?
If so, and if you did, then you would expect both machines to be set up
compatibly. Otherwise they might be in different workgroups, or on different
IP address ranges.
Are the two computers linked together directly using a crossover cable, or
through a hub or switch using direct cable or what?

Dear Dave,
Thank you very much for the input.
As to your two questions--,
Yes I,m using a crossover cable, and
only one of the to computers has a floppy drive.
What now?

How do you get the wizard to go back and create the files
on a floppy if you did not do that the first time, or do
you have to delete the first Network connection and start
over? Do the files on a floppy work with Windows 95? It
says no?
