I have installed Vista Beta 5384 in a machine which is connected to my home
network. This consists of four computers, three to a hub which is connected
to a router and ADSL link, and one wireless connection via the router. The
router provides DHCP service to the network machines. The computers run XP(3)
and ME(1), and one of the XP machines has two printers which are used by the
network.
Vista has problems recognizing the network. If I click Connect To, it says
that Windows cannot find any networks. However, it can see the Internet. If I
open printers in Control Panel, it shows the printers on the other machine
but if I try and print to them, it says Access Denied. Network Center cannot
show any of the computers on the network. All the other computers on the
network can see each other and printing is possible. I have been round the
loop of setting up networks a dozen times without success. In respect of
networking, this beta of Vista is very inferior to Windows XP, so much so
that I shall have to abandon testing it if I cannot use my network resources.
Any suggestions?
