Networking scanners

We have a small workgroup of 4 PCs. One PC has a Fujitsu
document scanner attached via USB.
We want others to access the scanner via software on
their PCs, to allow them to use the scanner without
disturbing the user who has the scanner attached to her
PC.
There does not seem to be a way to share the scnnaer, as
you can with a printer. Any ideas, please?
