New Drive Not Available in Windows Explorer

Posted: 01-17-2004, 05:14 PM
Have tried a USB hard drive and now a WD hard drive.
They are both recognized in disk management, but not in
windows explorer. My next drive letter would be G, which
I have changed to H,I etc. These drives work, if I remove
another drive then install the USB or new drive drive in
its place with the corresponding lower drive letter.
Have read the knowledge base article
microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 297694---
New Drive or Mapped Network Drive Not Available in
Windows Explorer
I believe this is the problem, what is the solution?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions

Is the drive partitioned and formatted? No version of Windows can 'see' an
unformatted drive.

We're here because long ago, we all probably did more or less the same thing
and worked it out! I've long known there are very few unique problems
without solutions.

I think the phrase 'trial and error' comes to mind.

You're welcome! Come back again anytime!
