New HD reduced my transfer scorre

Posted: 03-18-2007, 03:31 AM
I have an HP a1710n with a barracuda 320 gig sata with 16mg cache and my
system crashed. I bought a WD caviar se16 250 gig sata with 16meg cache. My
transfer rate score dropped from 5.9 to 5.4. Is this just do to an inferior
HD or is their something I can do to increace my score. And is the dif
between 5.4 and 5.9 even worth worrying about. Also I need to get a new vid
card as my 6150le sucks. I'm looking at geforce 7600gt between XFX, EVGA,
and BFG. Any opinions on which would be better for gaming. Or is their
something else that I might look at in this price range. (Under $160) Also,
what should I be looking at for good speakers under $300. I'm burning my 400
cds onto my comp and would really like a good sound when I'm finished.

Is if possible you replaced a Sata300/Sata II drive with a SATA 150 drive?
The 7600GT is an excellent choice, The 8600GT which is coming out next
month might be a better choice since it has a more powerfull GPU and has
DX10 support for future games.

If you can afford them, the Bose speakers are hard to beat.
Even the cheap $99 Bose ones I got for my laptop blew me
away. The Bose ones on my main computer are just awesome.
