New installation changed everything

My system on XP Pro was very well connected on the network and using Exchange
server 2003 under SBS2003.
When I did the upgrade vista lost all the configurstion. I could only surf
the network but I couldn't use MS Outlook 2003 and couldn't access/browse the
network.
So what one should in this case to avoid these kind of problems.
