Default new NVIDIA nForce Serial ATA Controller buggy installation

Just did a windows update and got this new driver as an optional update and
choose it for my sins.

Now stuck with the "Safely Remove Hardware" window in my sys tray for both
my HDD's. Checking the drivers on my HDD's the driver didn't install on the
reboot and now stuck with this, so how to remove said window/driver update?

No recent rollback saved so that's not an option and no Driver rollback for
either HDD as there greyed out.

Bob J is correct, but the update that Gus refers to is not listed (not on my
installation anyway!) and I too am stuck with the icon!

I suggest, go to the HD manufacturers website and download compatible drivers
and install them, by installing them they will override the existing drivers.
That may solve the problem!!!

The Safely Remove Hardware icon, does not indicate there is a problem, it is
only advice that you can safely remove the items mentioned.
I have the icon in my tray advising that I can remove my USB items.

I also have my updates set to download but not install, so I know & decide
what updates to install. If I have a problem after I can rectify easily and I
am not caught out.

Hi
This is how i fixed the problem{s} you have go to device manager
and find the IDE ATA/ATAPI CONTROLLER
right click the nforce serial ATA controller driver then select
uninstall the driver and put a check mark where it says to delete
the driver software for this driver then click OK your pc will restart
and the problem will be gone! {{Vista 32 bit}}

But if that does not work do a system restore back to where
the updated driver was installed this is the only thing that worked for .
{{Vista 64 bit}}
Then go back to Windows updates and select check for new updates you
will see the update again right click on the driver update then select
{hide this update} so it will not reinstall

Good Luck
