nForce 570 / Vista Beta 2 / Limited Connectivity

Posted: 07-01-2006, 08:46 PM
Hi everyone,

I've got a problem with Vista on a new machine I've just built. The board I
have uses the nForce 570 Chipset (Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe), which has the nVidia
Networking Controllers built in. Vista supplies these drivers, but on
install, I recieve a Limited Connectivity message. The system will not see
the router we have here, which was originally a Netgear FVS318. I had tried
both network cards with no luck. I also tried disabling IPv6, setting static
IPs and DNS info, disabling any firewall software on the router and on the
PC, and nothing has helped. I figured it was a bad router, so I purchased a
Netgear WGR614 and updated the firmware (and disabled the SPI Firewall) and I
still have the same problem. I also have an SMC EZ Connect USB adapter I use
at work for NIC problems, but Vista does not support it, and it will not take
the XP drivers. I've used both the new and older releases of nVidia's nforce
network drivers, with no luck there either. I've tried statically assigning
an IP on the router for the machine, nothing. No packets come back to the
card and only 100 or so are sent. I've checked the system logs and nothing
abnormal appears. I'm at wits end to get this working, if anyone knows
anything, please help!

Thank you.

Hello,

I am having same problems with my ASUS M2N32-SLi with nForce 590 Chipset. I
cannot see other devices or computers on the network, I am connected using a
switch to a central router/gateway. Any help is highly appreciated.

Thanks

Exact same thing on an asus M2N-E mobo. It's got the nforce 570 chipset and
the network always reads as limited connectivity. I tried everything
mentioned and then some and I can never get it to obtain an IP. It always
has the same IPv4 and the IPv6 is always just a random string of characters.
The weirdest thing is in the network settings it can tell when it's connected
to my router or an internet connection, but just can't get through to the
internet. I don't think the bundled driver is working properly... and there
doesn't appear to be an updated one available through nvidia yet. There are
no bugs with the network running windows xp so faulty drivers or vista
network problems has to be the culprit.

Just curious, are you guys using the 64 or 32 bit version? Because I've
only tried the 64 bit version so far. Maybe I should be giving the 32 bit
version a shot... probably has different network drivers so maybe it'll work.

I had the same problem with my M2N-E, the only way I got it to connect to my
Netgear wireless router was to manually assign the IP on my vista box and it
connected just fine.

Hi all,

I have the M2N-SLI Deluxe MoBo as well... A couple questions:

Did you have to install bare?

Which Nvidia SATA/Raid drivers worked for you?

I get to the point where I can add a driver, but it rejects everything I
give it. I've tried the 2003x64 drivers from Asus, and the Vista x64 Beta
drivers from Nvidia.

Thanks,

ski

M2N-E motherboard here. If you are experiencing "Unable to connect to
network" or Limited Connectivity errors, check your device manager.
Mine shows a yellow icon for the network card.

Put the driver cd that comes with the board in.

Open NIC properties
Click Update Driver
Browse to X:\drivers\chipset\64bit\ethernet

Your nic card will become a network enumerator (which will fail to load
a file, but not appear broken)

Click on your network card again, click Update driver.
Point to same location, this time it will update correctly and you will
receive an IP address.

Be Warned! If you at any time "Scan for Hardware changes" your system
will realize you have a working network card and fix this for you by
resetting the NIC back to the wrong set of files and removing the
enumerator entirely.

You will have to do this every time you reboot.

I hope this helps someone out there, I spent two days trying to get
connected. I still can't stay connected over reboots.

I had the same problem with my ASUS M2N32-SLI Deluxe board.....no
matter what I did...always got limited or no connectivity......I went
from my Vista x64 to the Vista x86 Beta 2 build 5384 (as I have both
discs), and without any problems.....everything connects
fine......even got the wireless Realtek 8187L adapter to work in x86.

My advice......don’t use x64....seems to be too many problem.....so
far the x86 is working perfectly......
