nForce4 Audio Drivers not recognized

Posted: 07-11-2006, 04:13 PM
The installation of Vista 64bit went smoothly on my Alienware Aurora 7500.
The only uninstalled device driver was the Multimedia Audio Controller. When
I tried to update the drivers for this device, my nVidia supplied drivers
were not even recognized by Vista. I have a long list of problems and issues
with this version of the OS and just plan on tackling them one at a time. I
am grateful for this newsgroup for the vendors supply their beta drivers and
don't want to hear from you again. I'm just curious if anyone else had the
same problem and if they were able to fix it.
Thanks,

I am also have an onboard soundcard issue, but with a Conexant AC'97. The
manufacturer of the notebook and Conexant simply stand by their "We don't
support Beta software" line. A phone-tech at the notebook manufacturer did
intimate that the soundcard will be supported "in the future."

I simply went and purchased a VOIP headset/microphone with a USB dongle,
plugged the USB dongle into the notebook and a pair of speakers into the
dongle. Works great, but is only a workaround, not a solution.

Try the Vista Beta drivers from Realtek:

http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...&Software=True

They provide basic sound functions.

I am actually using the Realtek newest drivers for WindowsXP x64 on my
n4force motherboard.
This was the first package that allowed me to set surround options...

I have an ASUS P5N32-SLI Deluxe motherboard. It has the nForce4 audio on
it.

The first thing I did, when I finally decided I wanted sound on my box, was
to get the beta driver for Vista64 from nVidia's driver pages. They are
beta drivers, so not GREAT, but as of yet I haven't had many problems.

Actually I posted all the drivers and procedures I've tried and the failed
results. This message board unfortunately ate it and I can't remember what I
posted. Suffice it to say, I have obtained all drivers recommended in this
post and nothing seems to be recognized by my Vista installation. I'm
disappointed that I can't evaluate this OS but for me it seems to be way too
early for it to even install properly on my machine.
Just in case this forum allows this reply to be posted, I want to thank
everyone for there help.
