NG & dropping original email address

Posted: 11-21-2003, 06:29 PM
I am dropping the email address that I may have used when I signed onto this
group. I don't remember if there was an official sign up. I am dropping it
because of all the spam which started appearing at about the same time I
started on the ng. My new email adress gets no spam.

Will I be able to continue accessing NGword without changing anything? If
the old email address is still connected in some way, it will be a dead
email address.

Thanks,

Rafael

HI Rafael,

It totally doesn't matter. There is no registration necessary for using
these newsgroups.

But you should post to the NGs with a fake or spamproofed address, or your
new address will likely wind up under attack as well. If you are using
Outlook Express, try just creating a fake address (see mine for an example)
that you never check but have set as your default NG posting address.

Sure, but please let the newsgroup users (and their software) know that
your address is fake by adding ".invalid" at the end!
