NIC speed on LAN vs DSL

Posted: 08-14-2003, 07:49 PM
When I got to my network connections on my XP pro machine,
I look at the status on both my LAN connection and
Internet connection and it gives me the following info:

LAN connection speed is 100 Mbps
Internet connection speed is 10
I'm using a Linksys 4 port router and a Westell Dual
connect DSL modem. Is it supposed to say this? Is there
something I need to do to get it to 100? I notice my NIC
is a 10/100, so I'm assuming this is right, but if there
is a way to make my connection faster, I'm all for it. Oh
yea, I have the onboard LAN with a ASUS A7N8x mobo.

Any assistance would be appreciated. Thank you.

Just to clarify further, the 10 (MBits/Sec) figure [A] is the *interface*
speed on your DSL modem rather than the connection speed itself [b], which
will probably be in the 512KBits/sec - 2MBits/sec range. As long as B
doesn't exceed A (which, as the previous reply indicated, with current DSL
provision it won't) everything's fine.

HTH,
