"No Disk In Drive" Error Message. Please assist. :)

Good evening :-)

The following issue occurs on my pc with Windows XP Home
Edition, Version 2002, Service Pack 1.

When I try to write a file to my F drive (right click,
explore, right click on cd writable drive, write these
files to CD), my pc will let me complete the first step
in the CD Writing Wizard (naming the CD - next), but when
I get to the next screen to perform the function, I
receive an error message:

"There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a writable
CD into drive."

I thought at first my CD-R was corrupted, dirty or
scratched, so I attempted the step with another CD-R,
with the same result. I also tried ejected the CD-R, and
reissuing it into the drive to see if it would "catch",
but to no avail.

My PC shows there is a disk in the drive with the icon
under "my computer", but when I right click and go to
properties it is showing the disk as having 0 MB on it,
with 0 MB availble for recording. I have tried this with
several new disks, with the same result for each.

I inserted a regular music CD to establish whether the
drive would work properly, and it recognized the CD and
played it.

I checked under disk management, and this drive has been
enabled to record. It also shows the drive as working
properly under the device manager (tried troubleshoot
several times).

Any advice is greatly appreciated! It seems I have tried
everything, but I've obviously missed a step somewhere
otherwise it would be working.
