No DVD Playback

Posted: 06-22-2006, 08:36 PM
Hello,
I have installed Vista Beta 2. The install was quite long but it went
smoothly. Everything on my PC works nice all but my printer but I was
expecting it not to work. I have tried to start differnt Commercial DVD
videos, Back to the Future, and Star Trek Nemesis, and they will not play in
Media Player or Media Center. Back to the Future comes with Interactual but
it won't play them either. The error I get in Media Center is this:

Cannot Play DVD

The DVD may be used by another application. If all other applications are
closed, the display resolution may need to be lowred or the display
connection type may not support playback of the DVD. For more information
please go to Help.

Media player says it is copywrited and can't read. Has anyone else had this
problem?

Thanks,

Dustin

Zapper,
yea I tried differnt DVDs and none of them work. Ironically I can get
PowerDVD XP to run but it is all laggy and jerky and the such. I am wondering
if Media Center or any other Vista program can play commercial DVDs.

Thanks,

Dustin

You probably need a codec pack that works in Vista. I have seen comments
about that in the TechBeta ng's but I don't remember the details.

I thought the codec was build in. I know I was able to play a few DVDs right
out of the box on Vista.
