| I see that that Windows Mail in Vista does not support e-mail filters for IMAP accounts. This seems totally crazy; I've never seen a mail client that has filters and does not allow them to be used for IMAP accounts. Does anyone know whether this is a temporary limit or is this the way the final product will end up being? Thanks, -Jeremy | Guest

| Hi Frank, Thanks for the reply. You are correct, I never used OE, I had no idea it had this same limitation. I still think it's a glaring omission. My guess is there are a lot of people that use IMAP ('alot' is relative of course; I know IMAPpers are a very small minority) who don't have the ability to set up a server side filter, but I suppose MS's solution would be to require those users to use Outlook instead. I was hoping WM in Vista would be a nice lightweight and fast solution for IMAP accounts with lots of mail. Outlook is kludgy and slow and it's IMAP implementation is sub-par at best. Outlook 2007 Beta is slightly better, but it's ability to store Sent Items, Deleted Items and Drafts on the server pales in comparison to even OE. Unfortunately it appears that WM is not the solution I was looking for. FWIW, the best mail client I've ever used is Apple's Mail client in OSX. It's extremely fast and has an excellent IMAP implementation. On the PC side, the only thing I've seen come close is Thunderbird, which is what I currently use. Thanks again, -Jeremy "Frank Saunders, MS-MVP, OE/WM" <franksaunders@mvps.org> wrote in message news:5AFFC5E0-B043-4C18-8372-4203D91443D6@microsoft.com... Quote:

| A number of people are requesting for such filters in WinMail, but it doesn't look like it will make it. I don't know much about IMAP, but I guess I'll learn a bit given the demand and maybe I can implement some sort of 3rd party solution to such that would integrate with WinMail's database. steve "Jeremy Domingue" <jsdomingue@msn.com> wrote in message news:04D92B0C-839C-460F-9891-CAD3F7816696@microsoft.com...
