No sound, audio..

I am a newbie. Someone just put XP Pro on my computer. He also put a cd
burner in too. Turns out that it is not compatable with XP (yes it is Yamaha
with Roxie cd creator I NOW know is not compatiable[4.01 at that] The sound
card is SB 1.5 live. and I have speakers but don't know brand name. I used
them before with this computer and they worked great (on everything) I look
at device manager and when I go to audio it sayes I have no device. I have
been trying to solve this for days now. The cd/w is causing alot of
problems, but I don't know how to take it out. (master, servent kindof stuff
(?) I have had XP crash now too. I did have ME before but did a clean
install.(?)(reformatted) then installed 98. Even tried devicedriver.com,
found a driver for cd creator 4.01 but don't know how to make it work. I am
just lost. Can I uninstall XP, go back to 98 (installed before XP) and then
when I get right cd burner Reinstall XP? Should I do that? I have tried
everything friends have suggested. speakers not detected, hp scanJet 4100C
won't work, ect...yet it says these things are working fine. If I did
uninstall XP, can u give me step by step, (like I am a baby) how to do
it..thanks

Hi again, I also can't shut down computer properley. It does not turn off,
only re-starts, and yes It is not on restart. When I start up My new message
was cd recordable will cause windows to crash, windows has disabled it.
Going to get new CD burner. but how can I make sure I delete all the "will
make me unstable" stuff
