No Sound In Games

For some reason, my sound works in all of my windows applicartons
except for games. I cant hear voices in games or music, but the sound
effects work find. Its odd, I ran a DXDIAG as per another post I found
but all of the tests ran fine. Anyone have an idea of what it could
be? Id really appreciate any help you could give.

My soundcard is SoundMax Digital Audio, integrated on a Gateway PC. It
happens in the following games:

Freespace 2
Freeelancer
Age of Mythology

Hi,

Your problem is unusual. Off the cuff a few suggestions that
come to mind would be first to make sure you've got the latest
drivers installed, then check the sound setting in control panel
to make sure that you haven't muted any of the types of sounds
through there, and (re)install the latest version of WMP to make
sure that you have all the codecs properly loaded and installed:

try upgrading your sound card drivers and it would't hurt
to install Directx 9.0b. Hope this works for you.

>Check your Option/Setting/Sound in your games. Set

to "Default Setting" and see what happens. You can go back
and customize it later on. If you have a sound card make
sure your on board sound is disabled. Also go to
Control/Sound and test your device. Good luck!
