No sound, not sure if sound device is even installed

Posted: 12-06-2003, 09:00 PM
I re-installed windows XP home edition, and right now I
can't hear any sound.

The only sound I hear is a "beep" noise from my computer
(NOT speakers).

When I try to play an audio file it give me and error
message that my sound device is not installed or its not
funcioning properly.

When I go to Sounds and Audio Devices in Control panel,
everything is greyed out. I can't change any options.

Thanks for any help
