no sounds coming from headphones..please help me asap

i cannot hear any sound from my headphone and i do not know how to fi
it..the last time i used it,it was properly functioning but later on
after a few days, i cannot hear any sound from it..it is properl
plugged in but i cannot reboot the computer which was one of the piece
of advice my friend told me to do so..how could i fix this prob?pleas
help me..
