Default No User Accounts at Logon Screen

I do not know exactly how it has happenned but my mate is
presented on log on with the normal Windows XP screen -
but without the user accounts!

I have tried a WinXP Repair install with no joy, still
the same screen with no users to choose from.

Is this a known WinXP problem that has been resolved?

Is there a way to fix this?

Do I need to do a 100% full reinstall into the same
Windows directory or do I forget that and reinstall in to
a new directory?

Is it a corrupt file that can be fixed - through DOS?

Help and advice much appreciated.

Default Re: No User Accounts at Logon Screen

Firstly, to get into windows, restart the computer, hold down F8 and choose
to enter safe mode when to option appears. Then logon as 'Administrator' (no
password). Now, the most likely thing to have happened is that you have
inadvertantly hidden the user accounts. This is possible only if you have
downloaded and installed the WindowsXP power tools. If you have, then you
may have used the utility TweakUI. Run TweakUI and find logon options and
make sure that none are hidden. If any are then just unhide them. Then
restart normally and everything should be ok.
