no volume icon near clock

Hi Group

I got new laptop hp nx6120, I can hear music from my laptop.
Now the problem is the is no volume icon near clock ,I have tried
uninstalling and reinstalling sound max I have also checked control panel
sound and volume devices " place volume icon in taskbar"
there is nothing related with sound in bios setup,

I am using winxp sp2

can you please give me any solution

Its not in the BIOS you should be looking.

Start > Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices > then tick place icon etc.

1. Right-click the arrow button at the left of the notification tray,
and choose Cusomize Notifications...
2. Make sure the Volume icon is set to Always Show

Hi Mike

It is also not working

Is it possible volume icon bar file is corrupt ?
if so wat is name of that file.

In addition I have checked with Symantec my system is not infected and it
has not quantrine or deleted any file from system
